No Thrill at the SDA

Another day in the grey skies of Kyiv, we did see the sun for about 30 seconds, that was the highlight of the day so far. The visit to the SDA office happened today. That was not a good experience. They claimed that they never knew that we were interested in specific children, yet they had Yana's file ready for us. The claim they never knew about Marina. It was very ovious that the truth was not coming out. We don't know the facts about Marina, but they want us to forget it and move on. We are not going to. We want to know about where her papers are. It seems that there is some problems between two inspectors. Yuri has been great, he is a great advocate for us and Marina. I think Victor will be too. We will leave for Berdyansk Thursday night, we couldn't get the papers today. Both Rick and I are at peace, we know the prayers are out there because after all that didn't happen for us at the SDA office, we came out encouraged. Maybe that is jet lag, but I don't think so. Thank you all for your comments, it really does help. The comment from Jane was a great confirmation that everything is okay, even when they are not okay.
Love you all,
Fran

I'm sorry to hear that your SDA appointment was difficult. Hopefully your facilitators will be able to help you get Marina registered, there is no valid reason for her not to be. Ukraine is difficult in a lot of ways, the people in charge know they have you at their mercy. If the orphanage director and your facilitator are prepared to put Marina's best interests at heart, you will be successful in the end...

Fran and Rick, we continue to pray for you and the girls. Jane is right! And as we know, in dealing with Ukrainian officials, what appears to be a brick wall and heart break one day can be a pile of crumbled bricks and the sun shining through the next day.... We pray for your steadfast hearts and know that what is right will prevail. Hang in there, we are WITH YOU!!!! *Tell Rick he will have lots of time to practice his typing!!!! Hugs to you in chilly Kyiv (Hey - it's cold here too!!) Jean & Jim

We have seen many times in our adoption journey (just so far, and we haven't even arrived in Kiev!) that God can overcome things that seem impossible to us. The only reason I can think of is that HE is to receive the Glory and sometimes needs to remind us that we can do nothing on our own. Still praying for a miracle. (For both of us;)

We're sorry too, but excited for Yana. I think I may have mentioned that our experience was that every encounter with the authorites was a competition. It's great to have advocates like Yuri & Victor, and the ultimate advocate who were asking (frequently) to speed your journey and give you favor!

Great news about Yana! We pray the Lord makes clear the direction for Marina. We hope the facilitators can work their magic and that the Lord works His will. We are with you each step, praying for you both. May you have peace and comfort daily. We're reminded how nothing is definite in Ukraine no matter what! Hey, how was the train ride?
Blessings,
Debbie & Dale

Fran & Rick... All I can say is welcome to Ukraine. The confusion has just begun. Your only solace is your faith and trust in the Lord. Just pray a lot as we do here for you and read scripture during the many spare moments you will have. God has a plan for you, Yana and Marina. Just play it out as His instruments. Be patient, you are on God's clock now!!! PS I waited at the airport for your return but since you didn't show I went home....

Love and prayers,
Dale (the gopher!!!)
