So one week in Ukraine and my whole body hurts. I have played soccer in the mud, arm wrestled, tried to do a back bend, been dropped on my head, and hugged and kissed more then I ever have. This is motherhood? I did discover what to do when you are at an orphanage and the girls want to play soccer. You invite any child that comes to watch to join the game. That's less work and less pain for my part. It works.
We would like to thank everyone for all the encouragement. We still feel hope during a hopeless time. We love both Marina and Yana and look forward to being home with them. Your prayers are powerful, and they are so appreciated. I keep reminding myself everyday that Rick views the world through a blind eye that was miraculously healed, it is a breeze for Him to work out the details of our adoption. Pray for a Miracle!
Fran
As we're leaving the orphanage, Marina is cartwheeling and backflipping when she's not holding my hand down the hall. Her way of escorting us out today. She is such a precious kid.
I just got off the phone w/our main advocate, Yuri. He's calling from the SDA office and I believe he might be on speaker phone w/Julia, his in-source of information. She gets on the phone and diatribes how good SDA has been in our case and we haven't been ignored and we're wrong to assume anything less. Before I can respond I let go of marina and Yuri gets on the phone and proceeds to tell me I can file a complaint if I wish if that would make things better.
INTERPRETATION:
Yuri is siding up to his ONLY source @ the SDA and we're just a temporary problem that needs to go away. Julia needs to switch departments here to a area better suited to her compassion for the clients she represents, like cattle or maybe chickens.
Last words Yuri had w/me is to suggest I meet w/the president of Ukraine. I thanked him for his effort and hung up. I look @ Marina as she cartwheels down the hall, escorting us out for the day. I can meet someone higher up than your president, and we have an appoitment w/him tonight, on our knees.

You have plenty of people praying for you (and Marina) over here. I'm sure the President is going to put aside all his other business to talk to you!!! That's the kind of **** that gets pulled on us parents all the tine when in Ukraine. oh, I think I'll just run over and see George Bush about the state of our roads right now, I'm sure he'll make time for me....Jane
Rick & Fran,
We keep praying for devine intervention and His will, miracles do happen. Fran, guess all your walking didn't quite prepare you for all the "exercise" in Ukraine :) Enjoy the girls, carry your passports (so you won't be taken to the "center"-of what?) and we continue to on our knees with you.
Love & Blessings,
Debbie & Dale
We're praying, too! I can think of several families who had paperwork "misplaced", and God intervened, so we're hoping for a miracle! Give Marina a kiss from her second grade pals :)
Lots of love,
Nancy, Steve and girls
Well I must say you have topped us all by being dropped on your head. At least Rob only sprained his ankle. Don't got to the hospital though, they might want to put a cast on your head!
Enjoy all the girls and have fun doing things with them. You will remember all the faces forever. They are all "precious in His sight".
Kneeling right along with you!
Laura and Rob
Rick and Fran; I don't think you are getting any of my correspondence....Please let me know if you get this one. I have spoken to Tanya....and hopefully things will come to fruition for all of you.
